Rosie
It was a nightmare. But a calm one, I couldn't find my Rosie. Rosie is my dog, a mix of Jap Chen and who knows what, who looks like a little orange and white spaniel. She was raised by my Boomer dog, and knows her manners and remembers every day to take care of me. Now I am caring for her. I think I was so calm in the dream because I'm learning that someday, too soon, I won't have her with me all the time. When I think of that when I'm wide awake, I cry. So, I'm learning to cope when I'm sleeping. It doesn't have to make sense, it's what is happening.
She's doing better now. She's had bouts of pancreaticis since November, the first one very severe with a vet stay and IV solutions to keep her hydrated...the second less so because I'm learning the symptoms and this last one has been better, but not much. I've found some methods to keep her stomach settled, and hopefully, not in pain. Moved to some herbal, holistic methods, combined with adjusting her meal schedule and many changes to her dog food. But this will be an issue for the rest of her life. She'll be 11 years old in April, her mother lived to 20, but I don't know if that's in the books for my good Rosie. I want her comfortable, able to chase her ball around the house, keep an eye out for invaders in her back yard, and be so happy that her tail swirls in circles when she flirts with you. As well as race to the door with that fierce bark to see the surprise on faces when they realize she's only about 25 lbs....I would, however, prefer that she NOT chase after the UPS guy like she did last night....she was feeling a lot better!
It's me that has to adjust...this whole aging thing stinks, bodies don't work, money issues, and really, we have the option to help our beloved pets to leave the world behind when they are very ill, depressed or cannot function. We should all have a such a way out...but today, I get to walk Rosie....
